Sometimes you just get lucky

So here we are in Brunswick Ga. waiting for "Sandy" to pass. You couldn't be in a better place for this storm(as far west as you can get on the East Coast). This stroke of luck all started In Charleston S.C. We met up with "Early Out" who convinced us to come to Brunswick before the storm was real threat. We all planned to leave on Saturday but when we went to pull our beloved Manson anchor,it wouldn't release. We called a diver who said it was lost forever in I beams on the bottom. We were not in the mood to leave at this point so we bid Fred and Debbie farewell but we knew we would see them soon as we now had their bolt cutters to cut the chain on Sunday. SO as I tried to sleep, some "magical thinking "transpired. Since we are on short scope and spin around in the current, maybe it will find its way home. Because we were about to lose 50'of chain and the the low tide could save us 7',I went to the bow that morning to retrieve the $20. Well much to our delight the chain just kept coming, complete with our trusted servant,Manson. After an medium quality overnight we arrived in Brunswick. Many cruisers here waiting for their insurance to release them south which equals fun "happy hours"

Some Highlights of Our Trip So Far

Today we arrived in Brunswick, GA; after a 26 hour off shore run from Charleston, SC. We pulled into Brunswick Landing Marina for a few days where many of our cruising friends are staying. We are watching the new Tropical storm brewing around Cuba, before we make any decisions about our next move. We left Annapolis on September 27th and three weeks later we are almost in Florida. Hopefully we will be leaving for the Bahamas in another month. It was great to start early this year - no cold weather.

We Made it to Oriental

We did leave Spa Creek, Annapolis on Thursday morning, September 27th. It was sad to leave our friends Yvonne & Jonathan, who felt like family all summer. We traveled 300+ miles in 10 days. Visited with family in Fishing Creek off the Little Choptank, traveled with Sally & Conrad on "It's About Time", with stops in Solomons, Fleets Bay, Old Point Comfort in Hampton, The Ferry Basin in Portsmouth, VA, Elizabeth's Dock in the Dismal Swamp, Elizabeth City, NC, and Deep Point in the Alligator River. Last night we anchored in beautiful Bonner Bay with Hayden & Radeen, friends on "Island Spirit". Today, we pulled into Broad Creek (just North of Oriental), to anchor for the night before going to SailCraft for a small repair. We did alot of motoring but did have a few days of terrific sailing; particularly our crossing of the Albemarle Sound. So far the trip has been great!
