We Made It To The Bahamas

Well, yesterday was the day - the forecast looked good for at least 2 days; so we readied ourselves & Kismet and took off out Government Cut in Miami at 1600, for the 90 mile trip. We figured that it might take anywhere from 14 to 18 hours; so we planned to be in a marina near Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island sometime this morning. The dreaded Gulf Stream was not bad at all; other than the fact that we had to motor across the 40 miles; because there wasn't enough wind. But the wind did pipe up when we entered the North West Channel and the waves built up as well. This part of the trip was pretty uncomfortable, very rolly, and everything down below that wasn't nailed down, was on the cabin sole. We also had to slow down because we didn't want to reach the channel for the marina before light. We arrived at 0800, after a hairy entrance through a narrow channel with waves breaking. Grey Hound was waiting for us at the dock - they arrived yesterday. Today we will clear customs & immigration, catch a nap, wash the boat, and ourselves & then settle in here at the Sunrise Marina for a few days - at $22.75 a day that's not too bad.
